Turn to Stella

When it hits January and you find yourself bored of layering up or shopping in the sales, it dawns on you that Spring is actually not that far away. In my case, I always take inspiration from Stella McCartney who in my eyes can do no wrong. She creates the perfect blend between masculine and feminine whilst remaining minimalist and true to her own style. The Stella girl is everything I want to be.

For SS13, following along the puritan theme that was blossoming all over the runway (Givenchy, Proenza Schouler, Derek Lam, Maison Martin Margiela) McCartney took from the Savile row inspired days when she left St Martins and re-structured them into a more modern and reformed woman - who is still powerful. Add this combination to an array of sports luxe (yes I said it again) style dresses and the runway made way for a delicate woman who embraces androgyny in its entirety.

It is in the beauty of McCartney's silhouettes that you really understand the kind of woman she is reaching out to. Boxy cuts and bold shoulders on the tailoring side of things were met with organza to complete the overall sporty appeal. I couldn't help but think, whilst slowly making my way through her archive, that this is what Spring looks like.
